I am an experienced and kind sitter, who really enjoys spending time with children. As a freelance writer and environmental educator, I have a flexible schedule, and really appreciate "kid" time. I can get on the floor and run a train set with a preschooler, sing funny songs with a toddler, and listen to a tween's stories about life in the school lane. Sometimes kids just want to be fed and watch a movie. That's ok too! I make it a point to meet each child at their level, be kind, and have fun--even if it includes putting away toys, winding down, and getting off to bed. In my younger days I used to do street theater and perform silly musical skits. I still like to sing and if your kids are musical we can enjoy that pastime as well as arts and crafts. I have experience as a reading Read more tutor, and also have taught middle schoolers. I love the outdoors so would be happy to take your kids outside for a walk or active play. Fresh air is good! I pay attention to safety and provide a gentle structure. I took CPR as a girl scout (so It's been a while) but I have a good head on my shoulders for kid crises large and small. Stella has been sitting for us for 2 years. She is warm, relaxed and capable. The first time she sat for us she instantly engaged with my son (who tends to be shy around strangers) and had him happily playing within minutes, making for a much easier exit for me. According to my now 5 year old Stella is the best sitter ever! He has even asked me, "Mom, when are you and Dad going to have a date night so Stella can come over?" This from a boy who has been known to drop to the floor in utter despair at the thought of being without me for an evening. I can't recommend her highly enough!

Stella was very kind from the moment that I met her, and I instantly felt at ease leaving my two young children with her. She immediately got down on my 3 1/2 year old's level and asked if she could play with him, which he loved. The next day he said that he had a great time with her and wanted her to come back to play trains. She was also prompt and competent at handling everything that happened. I hope she'll come back soon!
