I have volunteered and worked at Bacot Academy, a school for children with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and other special needs. I was there for over 8 years, during which I watched up to 8 kids in the aftercare program everyday for almost a year, helped with speech and physical therapy, took care of the hygiene and bathroom issues for the children that needed help with that, and taught social skills and adapted academic curriculum. I also have 3 siblings whom I have helped take care of since they were little, and my mom babysat kids ages 6 months-7 years until I was 12 years old. I have completed coursework for RBT training and have been exposed to and used ABA therapy techniques. I worked at a daycare for a while, switching between the infants room and the 1 year old’s room, and sometimes helping with the 2s as Read more well. I would prefer to babysit from my home, due to the fact that I have an older dog who doesn’t do well being left home alone for long periods of time. She’s great with kids and has been around them her whole life. However, I am willing to work with you and figure out what works best. I also love to read! My favorite series is The Chronicles of Narnia, both because it's sentimental and because they're great books. I just finished The Martian and the Fifth Wave trilogy, both of which I loved. My goal is to save up enough money to go to college and be a teacher. I’ve always loved working with kids of all ages.
