I am a 52 year old mother of three adult children, four granddaughters, five brothers, three sisters, six nieces, and eight nephews. At one point in each of their lives, they were under my care due to family emergency or crisis. I have spent a life raising kids, even when I was no more than a kid myself. As a professional, I worked as a CNA, HHA, PCA, MA in the private sector, in nursing homes, and hospice for Fairview Hospital. When my children were little, I ran a daycare out of my home. As they got older, I worked in the school systems working with kids both in the classroom and 1/1. I also trained and encouraged higher functional young adults to acquire and maintain a career, housing, and financial stability in a transitional program. For the past five years, I have been DSS and RCS in a foster Read more home in Minnesota while being a full time caregiver for my granddaughter. My son's job took him to Florida and he asked me to join them so that my granddaughter continued to have her grama full time. I'm looking for a job that will provide a little income, a social activity, a sense of community, and an opportunity to continue to encourage and teach in a smaller scale so that I can have more time and energy for my granddaughter. I am experienced in guiding, encouraging, teaching, and directing children of all ages. I believe in proactive guidance, choices, and redirection instead of confrontation, consequences, and reactivate behavior. I love to do arts, crafts, gardening and cooking with the little ones to encourage creativity and build confidence. I enjoy reading and listening to stories as well as creatively introducing mathematics and science. Diapers, bottle, rocking chairs, formula, feeding/sleep schedules, potty training, healthy snacks, are all familiar experiences for me. I love to help with homework, edit papers, and help studying for tests. Sidewalk chalk, playing at the park, a ride in the wagon, running through the sprinkler or playing in the sandbox are just a few of things we like to do for outside fun. I have been through CPR and first aid training in MN, but haven't been certified yet in Florida. As you can see, I have spent a lifetime training and encouraging others as well as looking out for their best interests. Helping and teaching others is a part of who I am and it gives me great satisfaction to see others grow and reach their potential. I would enjoy the opportunity to encourage your little ones.
