I have been babysitting ever since I was in the 8th grade, where I would occasionally watch my little cousins, as I am the oldest cousin in my family. In high school, once I got my license, I babysat for 2 young children twice a week after school. My duties would involve picking them up from elementary school and bringing them home, fixing them a snack, and getting started on homework for the evening. I usually stayed until around 5:30/6 oclock, when one of their parents would return home to get them ready their nightly rituals. In addition to working after school, I also occasionally babysat on the weekends, when parents wanted to get a night to themselves. I have babysat for a little 3 year old girl multiple times, where I would cook her dinner, play dress-up and house, put on a movie, and then get her ready for Read more bed, tuck her in and be there in case she woke up and needed anything. I also picked up babysitting jobs for families I did not know so well when needed. I got along great with both the parents and the children, and the kids listened to me no problem. One summer during college, I nannied for 2 boys, ages 5 and 7, 5 days a week. I would go to their house first thing in the morning and spend the entire day with them until their parents got home from work. We would do all sorts of activities, including playing sports outside, playing video games, the occasional reading that they were never too thrilled about, watching movies, and all sorts of activities. I would also take them out around town, to the park, the movies, the pool, and to friends houses for play dates. After college, I became a mentor for a young girl with developmental disabilities as well as a number of mental health conditions. I assisted in monitoring her living conditions and guided her to follow the rules set by her guardian and others on the team. I was available to her at all times, as she would frequently require gentle reminders and support. Although I was not considered her babysitter, I was there to take care of and support her. I would accompany her to doctor's appointments, school appointments, and take her on errands. I am a very dedicated and hard working individual with great experience and a big heart.
