As a teenager in Europe the only way to make money was to babysit, so I babysat, a lot! While I have no children of my own, I have eight nieces and a nephew. I moved to Florida from Connecticut to help my sister when she had twins (children 3 & 4). I lived with her for several years taking care of the children. Afterwards, I maintained ongoing contact, usually having children stay with me over the week-end. Now they are starting their own families. How time flies! I have taught HeadStart in preschool and have taken some of the classes required by the State of Florida to become a licensed daycare provider. In Connecticut I represented children (as an attorney) in neglect and abuse situations. I helped create and supervise treatment and reunification plans for children and their parents. I am familiar with these changes through my contacts with younger family members and ongoing interest in childhood development. For example, as a docent at the zoo I participated in the Saturday zoo-tots program. I am creative and enjoy doing "projects" with children, such as artwork. I can help with homework as well. I am also willing to prepare dinner and supervise bath-times, etc.
