I decided to become a caregiver after picking up a class in disability at UF. I was a second-year and a friend of mine just recently started working with a special needs man. She would always talk about her job and share her experiences with me and it just encouraged me to want to work with the man as well. Now, almost a year later I can say this special needs man, Jacob, has taught me more about myself than I ever imagined possible. He has brought so much happiness into my life, it has pushed me to want to expand my horizon and offer my care giving ability to other special needs individuals.
