I have life-long experience working with individuals with special needs. My sister has Asperger s Syndrome along with epilepsy, dysarthria and apraxia. I volunteered at an Autism School for 7 years as well as at a nursing home for 5 years. I have experience working with high-functioning Autism, low-functioning Autism, individuals with Down-Syndrome, elderly, elderly with Alzheimer's, elderly with dementia, at risk teens, depression, eating disorders, and children who are epileptic. I was a Resident Assistant (RA) at college and I also did work with Autism Speaks, fundraising, planning and executing events as well as leading the group as President of the on campus organization. I love to give speeches and spread awareness about the things I believe in. My aunt is a drag queen and I have attended numerous pride events and shows throughout my lifetime. I am very involved in the gay community in Pittsburgh. I have gained Read more a great deal of compassion for acceptance from my experiences. I'm very artsy and outdoorsy so you're kids are constantly involved in fun, productive, educational activities. I think creativity is extremely important.
