Growing up with 3 younger siblings (besides teaching me how to snag the last chicken nugget) was the best training any babysitter could get! Right from the start, I was changing diapers, cleaning up food spills, and investigating the suspicious silence coming from my little brother's room. By the time I was 14, I had received my Red Cross CPR and first aid certification, and I was the regular babysitter for 2 families on my block. Both families had at least 3 kids and a dog, and I became even better at preparing meals, convincing kids that bedtime was OK, and making sure the dog didn't poop in the house! Beyond my babysitting experience, I also regularly worked as the lead counselor for a summer day camp; the kids were ages 4-6, and I was in charge of keeping 25 kids engaged for 4 hours a day!
