Hello! My name is Ashley Merkel. I am a junior at the University of Georgia majoring in Genetics with a minor in Human Development and Family Science. I hope to one day attend medical school and become a surgeon with a focus on pediatric oncology. A little bit about me: I am 20 years old and am from Atlanta, Georgia. I have one brother, Frank, who also attends UGA. We are extremely close and do everything together. My mom and dad are basically the most amazing people ever and we spend a lot of time with them. I have 3 cousins, 1, 6, and 8 who I love dearly and spend more time with than I know what to do with. (see picture) I play tennis with my parents on a Mixed Doubles Team and love watching the Patriots, Red Soxs, and Celtics with my father. I have been a Read more lifeguard for four years along with a swim instructor for the past year; so I am certified in First Aid and CPR. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering at Extra Special People, going to the Animal Shelter, and playing sports of any sort. Also, I enjoy helping out the Greek Community in any way possible. I am currently serving this year as the Panhellenic President for UGA and have found such a love for this community and everything it has to offer.
