I am an energetic, eager, and enthusiastic educator who loves working with kids of all ages. I'm currently employed at the Atlanta History Center as a Museum Educator, which means I play dress up professionally! At the History Center, I work with kids ranging in age from toddlers up to high schoolers to examine the past so we can be better citizens in the future. Before I moved to Atlanta, I lived in Brooklyn, New York. While I was there, I worked at both the Children's Museum of Manhattan as an Educator and at the American Museum of Natural History in the Public Programs Department. In both instances, I was able to work with families from various backgrounds in a number of settings. At the Children's Museum, I implemented hands-on programs in early childhood, visual, and performing arts in various exhibition spaces for children and families. Additionally, I wrote lesson Read more plans, facilitated exhibit workshops, and lead circle time activities with kids of all ages. I received multiple commendations on my teaching performance and my ability to connect with patrons. Previous childcare and education experience includes, but is not limited to: - Babysitting and nannying for families throughout high school, college, studying abroad, and after. My average family size was two children, though I frequently sat for four boys (three 11 year old triplets and a 5 year old). - Working in with 13-18 year olds in Shanghai and Beijing, China, where I acted as an intermediate-advanced English teacher. We also focused on oration, speechwriting, and debate skills in the Model UN Style. - Tutoring in English, History, Social Studies, as well as Reading and Writing skills. - Teaching for two summers at a performing arts camp in New Jersey where I was an acting and voice coach. I am highly allergy-conscious, as well as being comfortable working with children with various learning disabilities. I believe that reading is one of the most important life skills a child can gain and have experience helping children with dyslexia and ADHD increase their reading abilities. I truly enjoy working with kids. They're a lot more fun than most adults, especially if you treat them like a grown-up. I can't wait to meet you and your child and work together to make sure they feel strong, confident, smart, and loved.
