In addition to raising 3 daughters and serving in the childrens ministry at church, my experience with children and education includes homeschooling for 2 years, working in the public system as a special ed paraprofessional with pre-K through 12th grade for 8 years, teaching adult GED/ESL for a technical college for 7 years, subbing for 2 private schools, and tutoring children with learning disabilities for 2 years. I have also worked for the past 5 years, on occasions as needed, as a caregiver and tutor for a 30 year-old friend who has Down's Syndrome. While working at a high school for 4 years, I also volunteered as the planner/coordinator of an annual school-wide fundraiser and many other annual events. In addition, I served as a sponsor and leader of a select group of student ambassadors who served as volunteers for various school activities. Lastly, I was also the school's Special Read more Olympics event and volunteer coordinator. For the past 2 years, I have been in between jobs, managing the needs of my mother's estate and 2 disabled siblings, who were living with me during a time when they were both facing multiple medical and hospitalization needs. Both have significantly improved and one is now in a long-term drug and alcohol rehab program and the other still lives with me, but is very stable and high functioning. She is now serving as a volunteer and participating more and more in various programs in the community. I am now moving forward with myself, trying to work again, searching for a new part-time opportunity. I have always loved connecting with all ages, using my skills and gifts to serve, helping and encouraging others and doing what I can to make a difference. I also have a love for organizing, managing, reading, exercising, being outdoors, and singing.
