Ever since I was six I knew that I wanted to work in a profession dealing with children. At this tender age, I remember being in daycare and the teacher giving me the honor of watching over the two and three year old kids. As time progressed and I got older, I did a lot of babysitting within my family. I was always given the responsibility to watch over my baby brother who is nine years younger than me. On a slightly more professional note, I did some babysitting for my mother's coworker. I was sixteen at the time and the child was five. This is the first time where a child has given me a "run for my money"! She is a high-strong and easily distracted child so I had to always make sure that she was preoccupied with an activity and always rewarded for her good behavior. I Read more have extensive experience with working with kids also due to the fact that I volunteer regularly at organizations. I have volunteered at the YMCA (two locations in Atlanta), Fall Festivals at Sedalia Park and Brumby Elementary, not to mention occasional after school tutoring at the Boys and Girls Club in Marietta. Needless to say, I love working with kids. A few other important facts that you probably would like to know is that I am a junior at Kennesaw State University. I was once a Middle Grades Education major, but changed it a few months ago to Psychology. The reason being is that I realized that I wanted to be more involved in kids' lives and help them with whatever issues they may have. With this degree I can still teach which is awesome because I get the best of both worlds. After my schooling I will finally reach my goal of becoming a Licensed Master Social Worker! Children are so impressionable and vulnerable and I want to be that individual to help guide them. For some reason, every kid that I work with I see them as my own so that gives me a boost to help them in any way that I can. Well that's enough about me! If I find a family that I mesh well with, I will be more than willing to put my two weeks in at my current job and invest more time into the family! After all, working at a restauarant isn't my true calling :)
