Hello! My name is Alena and I'm a 26 year old college student pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education at Georgia State University. My passion for taking care of others started at a young age watching my younger brother who is five years my junior. I got my first babysitting job when I turned 16, and watched the same girl for over three years. I was her babysitter from the time she was 2 until she was 5 and beginning Kindergarten. I worked various restaurant jobs before finding a job working at Primrose School of Cumming East in Cumming, Ga. I started out as an Assistant Teacher, and was promoted to a Lead Teacher within the first 6 months of working there and was named "Employee of the Year" in 2015. The main age groups I worked with were the 2-4 year olds, and the after-school elementary school students Read more whose ages ranged from 5-11. I was also the Lead Teacher of Camp Primrose both years. During the school year, my typical day at Primrose involved starting my day changing pull-ups and potty-training young toddlers to homework help with students up to 11 years in age in the evening. I learned not only how to nurture and care for the basic needs of the children in my classrooms, but also how to connect and relate to them personally through play and communication. I learned a lot of patience and my multitasking skills improved. I truly enjoyed working with children in a classroom environment, and my time spent there reaffirmed the notion that I should return to school to earn a degree in order to be the source of learning for these children, not just their homework help. I’m in my second year of school and I need a job that fits around my school schedule, but I want to attain a job working with children while pursuing my degree. I'm looking for a job that involves working with or being a nanny to a child or multiple children, preferably ages 2-11 since that is who most of my experience is based with.
