I love children & always have. I was 11 years old when my first nephew was born & I was 12 years old when my first niece was born. I would baby sit my nieces & nephews all the time at a young age. They would stay overnight with me at times when their parents were out of town. At the age of 17, I became a certified nursing assistant at my hometown nursing home. I began my childcare career in 1992, working as a Teacher Assistant at the Spalding County Headstart Center. After working there for 2 years, I was offered a Teacher position for the Butts county Pre-k. I worked there for 4 years with a wide variety of children. I had quite a few students with various disabilities. I decided to open my own home daycare, so that I could spend more time with my son. So Read more I worked part-time at Pre-K while running my home daycare with my mother’s assistance for 2 years. It was after this time that I worked at two more nursing homes, two more day care centers & a church nursery. I then worked as an after school tutor for the Henry County Recreational program with children ages 11-14. Being that I also still had a love of helping people, I went back to school for nursing. I completed my degree in 2001. I began working in a doctor office., and ended up working in 3 hospitals. I worked the night shifts, so that I had more time with my young children. My husband would take care of them while I was working. After injuring my back in 2006, I was terminated from Piedmont Fayetteville hospital for missing too many days off work because of my back injury, even though, I had doctor excuses. During this time in 2006, I began taking taking care of my ill mother up until her death on 11/15/16. My two children are now grown. My son is almost 22 & has 1 year left in college. My daughter is almost 19 & will soon have completed her first year of college. Now I would love to get back to the things I enjoyed doing, such as, caring for younger children, while assisting my children with college. I would be perfect for this position because I have a great love for children (people in general) & I have a great amount of experience. I’m available ASAP.
