Hi, my name is Breana Calderon. Or "Miss Bree" as I'm known to my students at Head Start Hawaii. Since graduating from Hawaii Community College in 2014 with a certificate in Early Childhood Education. Although I’m still very new to the early childhood field, from my experience in the early childhood program at Hawaii Community College I’ve come to fall in love with the field. The vigorous coursework at HCC along with the skills I’ve gained from working as a Program Aide for PACT has helped me gain experience in the early childhood field. It’s given me the opportunity to explore the role of both an aide and a lead teacher..Through these experiences I’ve learned about the dynamics of working with staff to plan and implement activities that are developmentally appropriate for children. But what the program has taught me more than anything is to value children and their families Read more by encouraging them to develop their abilities. I wholeheartedly believe that guiding children as they grow and develop is one of the most rewarding experiences a person can have. It’s the main reason why I continue in the field and hope to utilize my experience to be of service to families and their children.
