Hello parents, I am 27 years old--currently a student at Kapio'lani Community College (studying to become a x-ray/ultrasound tech.) *2008 received AA Degree through Butte-Glenn Community College in California. *2009-began my Bachelors of Psychology at Chico State University but decided it was not the path I wanted. I am the oldest of four so my earliest encounters with childcare are with my family. In 2010, I zipped off on a plane to Italy to try my hand at au-pairing. I was a live-in nanny for an eleven year old boy and a single mom. I made them breakfast, walked the boy to school, helped him with homework, made dinner and played with him endlessly. I also did house-cleaning and laundry. More recently in August 2014, I watched my neighbors toddler and realized I loved being there. A child's energy and smiles are what make this an enjoyable position for me. Read more This January, I was asked to nanny four times a week by a family I saw usually for date nights. I watched over a two and four year old, when their mother was home and also when she had to go out to run errands and be at appointments. I played with the kids, helped encourage their learning skills, joined them for dinner to assist with their meals, gave them evening baths, cleaned up the kitchen and playroom and ended my night with laundry after putting the kids to bed. Also, I don't place your child in front of the TV. Books, puzzles, arts and crafts, imaginary play and fun toys is how I roll. I also watched an eight year old weekly since January and worked for my sister's business, Play Sitters Hawaii. I still work with her monthly but would like more hours, possibly something with a set schedule. I have tons of references from over 10-15 different families and would be happy to provide you with contact numbers. One of my favorite parts of being a childcare provider is noting all the cute and darling things a child did/said that day and putting a smile on a parent's face when they come home. I believe it truly is an honor to be granted responsibility to take care of someone's child because it takes a lot of trust. I am not a parent myself, but I can understand the anxiety, especially for new parents. I am extremely warm, compassionate and caring. I can follow your specific directions and make sure your child is safe and smiley.
