Hello, my name is Nicole Wheatman and I am 20 years old and live in Hawaii Kai. I currently attend Boston University and I am home until late August and would love to be of assistance to any families seeking childcare. Some of my experience includes being a Girl Scout for 13 years and earning the highest honor - the Gold Award - for my work with a rural public school in Senegal, collecting school supplies for the children through various drives and donations that I organized, as well as repurposing old fabric into drawstring bags for the children to carry their school supplies in. In addition to working with younger girl scouts and helping to organize camps revolved around leadership skills and empowerment for young women, I was also a team leader for many camps organized through my high school. These camps included freshmen camp, where I would welcome Read more incoming academy students and lead them through activities and bonding experiences throughout the duration of the trip. In high school I was chosen by my teachers to be an assistant for "Introduction to Counseling Psychology" classes, involving team building skills and teaching basic counseling techniques for improved communication and listening skills among peers. I have two younger cousins who are my window into the world of toys, playtime, and interaction with cute little people! I also have a sister of my own who is 2 years older than me, so I know first hand the workings of sibling relationships. I have been a babysitter to various families in the past and enjoy playing with and entertaining children, and am CPR certified. At school, I currently work for BUILD, Boston University's Initiative Literacy Development, where I tutor 1st-4th graders in underfunded public schools around Boston. I have learned a lot about patience, communication, and child development through my time as a tutor, and love helping the kids develop a passion for learning.
