My experience with children does not really fit into a specific time frame. I would describe it as a set of skills acquired over the course of my lifetime. Starting at a young age, I knew a lot more about newborns, infants and toddlers than most. I was very involved in helping raise my little sister and serving in my church's nursery. While in high school, I babysat a football loving, 10-year-old boy for a few summers while his parents went to work. He taught me a lot about caring for boys and brought a whole new meaning to the words energetic and creativity. Once college started, I applied and was accepted into the 2 year intensive Occupational Therapy Program, where I learned about the aging process (newborns to elderly), mental and physical dysfunction, crafted splints, practiced safety precautions, CPR/First Aid, performed treatments/techniques on pediatric/middle-aged/elderly patients during clinical rotations, before Read more exploring other majors. Since then, I have held a few more nanny jobs and continue to grow, learn and gain more experience with each family. I highly value the balance between education and fun and feel both qualities must be present when caring for a child of any age. For instance, I love playing board games, being outdoors, doing crafts and watching movies. But I also like to incorporate and challenge a child to read, problem solve and be as independent as possible. I hope you've gotten to know me a little, through my words and experiences. God bless!
