Hello, I am a DePaul University graduate with a degree in childhood development. During my years studying at DePaul I worked for an organization named the Cities Project which includes a series of studies conducted with urban youth and their families and with urban schools and partner organizations. The overarching goals of these studies were to understand how stressful life experiences affect the mental and physical health and academic engagement and achievement of youth, and to develop prevention and intervention programs that would minimize negative health and academic outcomes and maximize positive health and academic outcomes for youth exposed to stressful life experiences. This included supervising weekly meetings with groups of 30-50 children between the ages of 5 and 13 while engaging them in various workshops. I have also had experience caring for children in my personal life between living with my sister as a single mother and helping to Read more raise her son since birth and now living with my 8 year old cousin and helping with her daily care as well.
