My babysitting career started when I was young - only 11 years old! My mom would leave my younger brother and sister at home alone with me (and sometimes my older sister) for errand runs, date nights, etc. I learned a lot of the ins and outs of caring for kiddos from those early babysitting experiences and handled everything my wild siblings could throw at me like a pro. I started babysitting outside of my family two years later. I babysat a one year old for a family down the street during soccer practices and dance recitals. From there, my babysitting career grew to include babysitting for the principal of my old elementary school, regularly babysitting a set of 18 month old twins, a set of rambunctious brothers, and even watching over large groups of kids at block parties. While I was in high school, I also began assistant teaching Read more dance classes at my dance studio for toddlers all the way up to 3rd graders. My first summer home from college, I had my first regular nannying experience. I was a nanny for an 8 year old and a 6 year old three days a week for all three months of summer. We took trips to the zoo, the museum, arts and crafts stores, the water park and swimming pool. We also did science projects at home like make oobleck. My second summer home from college I was a regular nanny for a single dad who had just had back surgery. His kids were age 7 and 5 and I spent 4 or 5 days a week keeping the kids happy and their dad recovering. My duties expanded to include running errands, taking the kids to birthday parties, and taking care of their yellow lab puppy. For the last two years of college, I've been a date night babysitter for a now 7 year old and his now 5 year old sister. Throughout my 11 years of babysitting, I have learned the ins and outs of what it takes to be a successful babysitter or nanny for just about any aged child. I have gained experience in meal preparation for picky eaters, bed times for stubborn and energetic kids, all kinds of housekeeping duties, and how to have fun away from the TV.
