Hi! My name is Melissa and I look forward to meeting you and your family! Working with children has always been a passion of mine. I come from a large family with 5 children. Since I was one of the older children, I helped care for the younger siblings starting at age 11. Around that age I started a "babysitter's club" and helped care for a few younger children in our neighborhood. When I was a teenager I also babysat for neighborhood families. When I was in my early 20's I worked for a daycare center caring for infants. I absolutely loved the babies and a year later had a little girl of my own. After my daughter was born I decided to be a stay at home mom but also went to college part-time for 4 years majoring in nursing and also took a few classes in Early Childhood Read more Education. When my daughter was 2, I babysat for a local family caring for their 1-year-old triplets. That was an adventure! When my daughter was 3 I started my own in home childcare business as a registered childcare provider. During that time I cared for 3-5 children at a time ranging in age from 4 months - 4 years old. Soon after I finished nursing school my daughter was 5 years old and I was able to work more outside of the home. Since then I have been caring for the elderly either in their home or in a nursing home setting for nearly 5 years now. Currently I work as a nanny on occassion for a family in West Des Moines.  Thank you for your interest!
