I am currently a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am studying Kinesiology and will be graduating this spring. I am looking to start paying off my loans as soon as possible and I am looking for work that I will care about and truly love. I am looking to earn some extra money on the side of the work that I am already currently doing. At the moment I am a personal trainer our Campus' Recreation center (the ARC) and have just been recently hired by a startup corporate wellness company as a personal trainer called MPower Fitness. As a high schooler, I babysat my next door neighbor's kids (2 boys, at the time they were ages 8 and 4) and have periodically babysat them when I am home, ever since. During my high school years I also ran a sports camp at a day care Read more center that was located a few miles away from my house. The day care asked me to design sports games with around 15 kids who were aged anywhere from 5-10. I am more than comfortable with working with larger groups of kids- I believe that they listen to me as someone who they enjoy being around and also as someone who they recognize as an authority figure. I like to maintain a level of obedience with children whom I work with while maintaining the ideal that it is important to connect to children as individuals who have needs and wants, just as you or I do. Two summers ago (2012) I worked for the University of Illinois Sports Fitness Program. During my employment I was in charge of anywhere from 1-20 kids at a time, many times on my own. I discovered during this period of time how much I enjoyed being around children, as they help me to better maintain an outlook on life that is a bit more silly and fun. I find it important not to take life too seriously all of the time (except of course, when I am in charge of taking care of someone!!) and the kids that summer left an everlasting impression on me of that nature. I am a confident person who enjoys social interaction and learning new things about myself and others.
