I grew up in Champaign, IL and I'm now a rising junior at Johns Hopkins University. I study International Studies and Harp. Outside of school, I love volleyball, making art, and reading all kinds of books. I am fluent in French and can hold basic conversations in German and Japanese. I have a wide range of childcare experience. Most recently, I worked as a summer babysitter for four children (8, 6, 4, and ~10 mo.) and occasionally for another family with two boys (7 and 10). I also have experience as an assistant teacher at a Montessori preschool during their summer 2015 program. I worked with two different classrooms of about 15-20 children, ages 3-6. Aside from that, I have had several miscellaneous childcare jobs around my church, including helping out during summer Vacation Bible School for several years and in the nursery during Sunday morning services. Finally, I have Read more taught private harp lessons to two different students (8 and 10) for about two semesters. In particular, my time as a preschool teacher greatly improved my ability to multitask--mediating a disagreement between two children while keeping an eye on the whole room, for example. Another one of my strengths is my ability to remain calm in a crisis, which allows me to quickly come up with a solution. I am also very sensitive to children's moods and needs and don't hesitate to change the plan/activity based on that. And of course, I truly enjoy being around children and being a part of their lives. I think it's incredibly important to be a role model, but also to let children themselves discover who they are and who they want to be. It means a lot to be able to witness that process and to help them have fun along the way. Although I do not have access to a car, I have a driver's license and a clean driving record.
