I am a high school English teacher currently teaching ninth and eleventh grade on the West side of Chicago in the Lawndale neighborhood. I am a passionate educator and have always enjoyed taking care of children. While most of my days are consumed by interactions with teenagers, I enjoy interacting with children of all ages. While I do not have children of my own, I have plenty of experience babysitting children--from newborns to pre-teens. Summer calendars were often filled with babysitting appointments during my middle school and high school years, and I absolutely loved it. I went to Kalamazoo College, a small liberal arts institution in Kalamazoo, Michigan. There, I majored in English and Chinese and spent my Junior year studying abroad in Beijing. I speak some Chinese and can also understand and communicate minimally in Spanish, since my father is from Mexico.
