Jamie’s Bio

Hi there!  My name is Jamie and after finishing my Masters in Art Education at Columbia College Chicago in 2010, I was hired as a house manager and nanny for an amazing family in Austin, Texas.  As I transitioned their youngest to full-day Kindergarden this fall, my fiance and I decided to use the opportunity to relocate back to Chicago to be closer to our families and friends.  In the coming months, it is my great hope that I will find and connect with another equally wonderful family or families in the city we love so much.
While I am willing to split my time between two part-time families, due to the breadth of my experience, the importance and requirements of this position, and my qualifications, I am not comfortable accepting less than my suggested rates.
I have such a passion and respect for the perspective, unique opinions, and creative ideas of children and hope to establish a connection with a new family that values the importance of art and imagination in their home.
That being said, I am entering  your  home and  your  family dynamic.  I realize the importance of consistency in your child's world, respect the structure you've created, and welcome conversations about how to best integrate our interactions.  Also, as a caregiver/assistant, I believe the importance of reliability, punctuality, and discretion cannot be underestimated.
While the children are often my sole and primary focus, I am also capable of and comfortable with facilitating areas more often held under a "Personal Assistant" or "Estate Manager" title.  I have planned catered parties and benefits for groups of 100+, coordinated appointments, schedules, and travel for a family of seven, arranged flowers, bought and wrapped birthday and holiday gifts, cooked for dinner parties, organized and purged the family home, coordinated an interior rehab and renovation of a home, kept up with household shopping needs including grocery, cleaning, and organization, traveled as a caregiver with the family, taken care of pet needs including euthanasia appointments, etc...
I was certified by the Red Cross several years ago and completed a refresher course on CPR/first aid in October 10, 2011, but would gladly renew upon request.  As part of my graduate curriculum and subsequent student teaching, I completed several courses dedicated to the needs of exceptional children and worked hands-on to ensure their success.
When not spending time with my spectacular nanny kids, I make some of my own artwork, entertain my huge rescue pup, Ramona and her two cat friends, and volunteer with Anti-Cruelty Society as a foster parent.  My fiance and I are also looking forward to and planning a very creative and fun wedding that will take place in October.
Thanks so much for your interest and please take a look at my other reviews under the "Nannying" section.  I look forward to speaking with you about your family's needs and welcome any questions you may have. Hope to hear from you soon!

Jamie was very punctual, actually arriving a few minutes early. Very friendly and professional. Our 16 month old was very comfortable with her from the start.-not a tear shed as we headed out the door. She followed all of our notes and suggestions. Our toddler was well fed, bathed, and tucked in sound asleep when we arrived home. We were able to enjoy date night without a worry!

Provider's Response

Wow! What sweet things to say. I'm looking forward to sitting for you guys again soon!

Jamie has sat for us twice now, and she's been fantastic both times: prompt arrival, very flexible (our return time was off by several hours on the first engagement), and completely at ease with 2 active, talkative kids (ages 7 and 10) and a curious dog. I feel completely confident having her sit for our children at any time, and would highly recommend her services to others.

Jamie has babysat for us twice, and she was great both times. She is very punctual and careful to note all instructions for the evening. She interacts with the children and plays games with them. We felt very comfortable leaving our 2 toddlers with her and would use her again.

Jamie has taken care of my two boys, ages 4 1/2 and 2 for the past 5 months and has been outstanding! I have never had a worry leaving her in charge. Besides being punctual and neat, Jamie has established an amazing bond with my children. She spends hours working with my boys on beautiful art projects creating a love of art that I hope will last a lifetime. Jamie is always kind, gracious and even tempered with the boys and they enjoy every moment they spend with her. Jamie has been a wonderul asset to our family!

Jamie has worked for my family for 2+ years as a nanny/house manager/personal assistant. She is amazing with my children, has never been late, loves animals, arrives with crafts & projects and consistently goes above & beyond in every way. I trust her completely with my children and in my home. She stays with my kids while we travel and has traveled with us. She is very easy to have in our home and on our vacations. She organizes our home, helps plans parties, sorts mail, picks up, grocery shops, light cooking, manages service vendors & contractors and pretty much runs our home. She is very organized, trustworthy and capable. She is the best nanny and assistant I have ever had and we are devastated to lose her as she is moving out of our area. Please call me for a reference at (512) 585-6438.
