Hi, I am Kellen and I am seeking new clients for occassionally sitting in Chicago, open to a full time position. I am a student in an Ophthalmic tech program, studying for my exam, and I plan to continue nannying part time long term as I have many clients I love working with. I am CPR and first aid trained. I have been working with children since my teens, over a decade ago, and have worked with large families, infants and toddlers, and children and adults with special needs in that time. I am willing to do light housework and basic cooking, as well as tutoring and homework help. I love animals. I don’t drive. I believe it is important for kids to have a healthy diet, a regular schedule including lots of sleep & lots of time for active play. I am strict about safety, health, & Read more respecting others, but I think it's good to be flexible and easy-going in other ways, like giving kids creative outlets and choices. I use the time-out method and positive re-reinforcements to encourage good behavior, working with the parent's established rules & methods. I do not believe in spanking. I have worked with many families, including kids with emotional issues and disabilities and I like to engage the kids in a variety of fun, creative, and educational activities. What I look for in a client is good understanding of boundaries, mutual respect, and good communication. Must be LGBT friendly and anti-racism. I have previously worked as a freelance journalist & researcher in my spare time, and done volunteering for organizations that help the homeless.
