Fa’s Bio

Hello family!
I'm Lily, I'm very reliable, punctual, honest, caring, energetic, trustworthy nanny.
I LOVE being with children. I'm easy going but I also value some structure and some limits. I try to pass  to children some good old values such as respect, communication, gentleness and love.
I started out working with children back in Brazil babysitting here and there for friends and family and this had encouraged me later when I was in college to volunteer in a nursing school in a poor neigborhood where I used to help the prefessionals to care and play and give lots of love and attention to those much needed children. I used to go every day, mostly in the mornings and I used to be at a different classroom with different age group every week, starting with new borns to 5/6 years old. It was a great experience!
I end up here in Chicago doing an aupair program, after spending one week in New York City doing this aupair workshop, were we learned some important points of American Culture and basics of caring and nurturing children.
I lived with this family in Wilmette where I cared for their children, 3yo (girl) and 6yo (boy), this was in 2005. I would wake up in the morning and fix breakfast, take them to school, after school I would prepare lunch, do some activities to spend the afternoons, things like coloring and doing arts and crafts, going to the library, childrens museum, the park, ride bicycles and so on...then I feed them dinner and give them a bath, by the end of bathtime (always super fun) mom or dad would be back home.
I spent almost 2 years with this family.
Ever since I'm a nanny, I had worked for different families, either nannying or babysitting, the youngest was Shoshanna, she was 2months old and the oldest child I cared for was Mark an 8 year old.
I love newborns and toddlers, I think this is a great fase of their lives and I'm very caring so for me being able to hold and be very close and give them lots of kisses is a joy, before they grow up a little more and start being independant, wich I love too. I like taking infants and toddlers to walks (very important), read them books, play on little playmat, listen music and sing along...
January 2012 I started a new challenge. I was babysitting in a full time basis to this sweet little boy named Jacob. He is smart, very busy and also the sweetest thing, love to cuddle and being held but he has hearing deficiency, that is why it was a challenge. He was 18 months when I started and just had got his hearing aids and he was just learning how to listen! We had such a great time together, I was present during his speech therapies, he had gone under surgery while I was working with him and the family moved out to the suburbs and once more I was present during this big transition.
I have watched for multiple kids at the same time, as 4 children siblings and cousings on playdates and I nanny for a family of 3 siblings also.
During this summer I'm caring and loving this little boy named Alex, I met him he was just turning 3 and now he's almost 6 years old! I had nanny for him for over 2 years and he's growing fast and other then his parents had moved to the suburbs he had started school full time on December/2011 and now since it's summer break, Lily is back! Alex loves running around, playing with water, dinossaurs and fast animals such as cheetah. One of he's favorite plays is teatching me spanish! We would sit down with a bunch of toys like animals and food and he would tell me their names in spanish and I would repeat after him. Too cute! We also go to the park as much as we can, we go to the library, children museum, gymnastics. I also cook for him, give him bath, care for his needs and he loves to hug and cuddle with me.
I do drive and have my own car insured. I drive Alex to play time and activities out of the house. I have an excellent driving record.
I like not to just go to work but I like to think that taking care of the child is taking care of the family too, I like to feel comfortable with them, not only with the kids. What I mean with comfortable is to be open to talk, express my ideas and communicate with parents what I think is important for the child development. I like to feel as a good friend of the family. And I don't mind helping out with the house chores.
The child's safety is my top priority, other than this I'm laid back, easy going and flexible.
I also like to establish and keep a routine during my work with chilodren, lunch time, playtime, bath time. I'm open to flexible hours such staying late or coming a little earlier and eventual date/movie night (for the parents).
I can say I learn a lot with my job because every child is different, every family is different but there is one thing that doesn't change and it is what I have to offer my love, my respect, my affection. Every kid is in a way a challenge for me but I never am a challenge for them. I'm easy going and caring just like a loving nanny should be.
I'm very used to periods of transition on a child's life. Transition such starting school, potty training, family moving, many transitions that can be difficult for a child to underswtand and adapt, I'm there as a solid rock, comforting, understanding, talking, explaining and loving.
I also speak, other than English, Portuguese and Spanish.
If you are looking for a very patient friend to your child or children who also love pets feel free to contact me anytime.
Lily Goegan :)
