Lisa’s Bio

** Please see my reviews, and also ADDITIONAL REVIEWS  listed under my  NANNY  profile**
Hi, my name is Lisa. I'm 54 (athletic), Chicago born, college educated, a nanny, musician, writer, artist, ex-office manager, and a very warm, responsible, energetic & fun woman.

NOTE: As of 09/17/14 I'm just starting a new Mon-Thurs daytime nanny job, so am now only available for occasional evening or Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon day or evening work.
From Feb-Sept 2009 I was a happy nanny to a beautiful, now 4-year-old girl named Maddy. (She was 3 months to 10 months old when I cared for her.)

Then for the past 4 years I've nannied for a brother-Niko and sister-Katia, now over 4.5 and 3.5 years old. (I started with Niko when he was 7 months and Katia when she was 2 months.) My work hours became inconsistent due to the parent's work schedule so I had to finally quit the job. I just (09/17/14) accepted a new job to nanny for a super cute 10-month-old girl, so can now only accept occasional night or weekend work; also Monday and Friday.

I'm middle child from a huge (7 kids) suburban family, and I LOVE children. I was an egg donor for my sister 12 years ago, although I never had any of my own. I get no greater joy than seeing grin on a child's face the first time they learn something new. I've been a professional nanny for many kids through sittercity the last six years, as well as babysitting for many, many kids, nephews, & siblings over the years. I'm experienced with newborn to school age kids. I believe I'm the Mary Poppins type, in a good way--I love to sing, dance, teach and do art projects with kids. I cure tantrums with laughter, listening and distraction. I'm on the sensitive side and am especially good with sensitive children.
Previously in my life I was office manager at a New York architect firm as well as being a part-time musician. I now prefer the company of children and love to see smiling little faces each day. Making children laugh and helping them learn is far more important to me than the corporate world. My English skills are excellent as well as my grammer. I know a tiny bit of Spanish as well.
I have a drivers license, a reliable new car if needed, & a perfect driving record. I'm also First Aid and infant to adult CPR certified. I don't mind light housecleaning, laundry, dog walking, etc. I'm really good at organizing and can shop for clothes and food.

Lisa is great with our kids. They look forward to seeing her because she's so cheerful and fun for them to be with. She engages them in creative play and truly cares about them. We wish she lived closer to us; we'd hire her full-time. We totally trust her judgment and honesty, and the kids (age 1, 4, and 6) love her.

Lisa was great. She was able to help us last minute with our 20 month old daughter when our nanny called in sick. She came the same day for an interview and helped us 3 days this week. She brought a color photocopy of her drivers license on request. She was even early despite a major snowstorm and my daughter liked her very quickly. She got down on the floor with her and kept her engaged even when I was home. I would definitely call Lisa to watch our daughter again.

Lisa confirmed that she would be at my place for her 1PM interview the day before the interview was to take place. However, 5 minutes before she was to arrive, she sent an email stating that she didn't know if she was supposed to come, plus, she "was recuperating" from babysitting the night before.

Provider's Response

Hello, I must respond to this review. Kimberly did not give me her address or her phone number. She somehow expected me to show up for an interview without this information. When she finally emailed me beck it was too late to meet. I am extremely reliable when it is possible to be so. Thank you.

Lisa was my daughter's nanny for several months. She was fantastic.

Lisa started working for us for a 3-4 days per week, at approximately 8 hours per day. She quickly made herself a welcome and trusted member of the family. Her cheerful disposition was always welcome, and I always felt that my daughter was in safe and good hands whenever she was with Lisa.

I think what I liked most about Lisa was that she utterly committed to taking care of my daughter. She brought her places, sang to her, laughed with her, played with her -- she absolutely engaged with and bonded with my daughter. In addition, when my daughter was napping Lisa proved to be very helpful around the house, effortlessly and quietly taking care of certain chores.

I'm incredibly glad Lisa was able to take care of our daughter, who immensely benefited from the experience. You would be hard-pressed to find anyone as warm and caring for your child.

I highly recommend Lisa, and it's not just because we've been friends for 17 years. She is a unique, warm, thoughtful and caring person, and was our obvious first choice to have help us care for our boy when we had him, and then also our girl (of course) when we had her a year later. Lisa has rolled like a champ with our complex work schedule for 3.5 years now, but she has reached a point where she needs a more full time nanny gig. Whoever decides to hire her will be a fuller family for it. She will forever be a part of ours.
