I retired from teaching 4 years ago and just recently moved to Coal Valley so as to be closer to my daughter' s family; I know how crazy it can get sometimes when you have children and both parents work. My grandchildren are 3 and 1 years of age. I might watch them when their parents have a date night, when one or both of the kids are sick, or pick them up from Day Care if their parents have to work later than normal. I am not looking for a full time job, just something to do to occasionally and/ or on a part-time basis. I want to be available for my grandchildren and time to travel. I know I said I would feel confortable with just two children, but that really just depends on the children's ages; after all, I taught school for 36 years with up to Read more 30+ students in my classroom!! :-) During my teaching career, I taught 4th and 5th grades, with a year in 6 th grade. I would be more than happy to help students with homework, although I am not familiar with the teaching of the Common Core standards in math. I have a small dog. Both of my adult kids have dogs, so I am quite comfortable being around dogs. Cats are fine, too. I have had training in CPR throughout my career in education, but would need to refresh myself in it. I love to read to kids, and I am a playful Grandma!! I don't just "watch" my grandchildren, but play with and teach them things.
