As a freshman student at Indiana University, I am studying psychology under the pre-med track because although I am not 100% sure of what my future job will be, I am 100% sure that I want to work with kids and teenagers with self-esteem issues and make a difference by helping them realize how remarkable they all are. Having the opportunity to be a part of a job that’s foundation is based on the practice of helping adolescents explore and discover their talents is a great gateway to my future career. I am interested in applying to be a nanny because I love working with kids and helping them realize the potential they all have. The opportunity to be a part of assisting kids to mature and grow would be an amazing experience. As a kid, I got a babysitting job as soon as anyone thought I was old enough Read more to be hired because from a young age I loved working with children. After babysitting for four years, my family moved and unfortunately we no longer lived in a neighborhood so it became more difficult for me to babysit until I started driving. Since then, I've tutored refugee elementary school children when they first came to America. Although they struggled a lot with the drastic adjustment, they had the greatest outlook. The way their faces lit up when I helped them understand a concept better or even to simply see me as a familiar face was one of the most rewarding experiences. I've also volunteered at many different Special Olympics events for children with intellectual disabilities. Being a part of helping them as they crossed the finish line or even caught a ball was an incredible experience. Although not all of my previous work and long term volunteer opportunities besides babysitting and tutoring haven't working involved kids, they have taught me countless social skills and patience. I have volunteered for three years as a secretary at a nursing home, which has taught me how to deal with a broad range of people. Working as a secretary, I dealt with a lot of issues I had to adapt to and overcome. My most prior internship, working for two Illinois political candidates, I learned to work with a wide range of different ages and genders. This experience allowed me to thrive in an environment with a diverse range of people and taught me many leadership skills. Ultimately, my passion for working with children in an active environment to help adolescents overcome any barriers so they can develop a love for their talents is what encourages me to be a nanny.
