I am a 26 year old speech-language pathologist who is currently servicing elementary students in a public school district. However, I will available for a full-time nanny position during the summer months (June-August). I have been a full time nanny in the past, and I have been a babysitter for various families since I was a young teenager. In regards to my previous nanny experience, I have worked with different families with children of varying ages (ranging from 1-13 years). I feel very comfortable working and taking care of children of any age. I have always enjoyed working and interacting with children, but since becoming a speech-language pathologist, I have a new appreciation for it. I specifically chose to work in an elementary school setting because it allows me to continue helping young kids, but it different ways. I have an increased understanding of childhood development, which has helped me Read more become much more aware of their interests and abilities depending on their age-level. Also, with my clinical experience in grad school, part time home health care experience, and full time care in an elementary school, I have been given many opportunities to work with children who are identified with different diagnoses, who have demonstrated different needs, and who have most importantly, demonstrated improvements in their functional communication and social language skills. My career is so important to me, and I am thankful for having the opportunities to continue helping children, even outside the scope of speech and language. Considering that I am hoping to work during the summer months, I believe it would be best for the kids to stay active and interact with their siblings or friends. TV and video games should be kept to a minimal amount, and I will encourage the children to engage in other creative and active games. I personally enjoy participating in many inventive games that children come up with! I will also make sure to keep order, and adapt to the family's ideals.  Lastly, with regards to pets, I have always grown up with a dog, and have also been around other smaller pets. I know how to take care of animals, and I enjoy their presence around the house.
