I am a single woman recently located to the Chicago area (Lakeview East) . I am signing up here for two main reasons: 1) I badly miss my one year-old niece, and want to hang out with kids again! (Like most aunts whose nieces and nephews are like bright sunshine to them, I do not have kids.) 2) I am looking to make some extra money while I look for a full-time job. Depending on how things go, I might even keep babysitting after I get a day job. I have always been good with kids -- I of course babysat as a teenager, and went on to work as a Kindergarten Aide at Holy Rosary School in Woodland, California. I also studied to earn my Multiple-Subject teaching credential (for teaching K-8) at Dominican University in San Rafael, California. However, I decided I liked to play and hang around with Read more kids and help them be creative and imaginative, as opposed to teaching in the classroom. *Another important thing to me is that I know it's really important for parents to go out and have grown-up time together. The going rate for sitters in San Francisco can be upwards of $25/hour, though, making "date night" too expensive for my sister and her husband. So, since this is "extra" money for me, and I never ran a child care center or anything like that, I decided I would charge a more affordable rate.
