We hired Caitlin to nanny our 1 year old, two times a week. The first day (4/24) she was a very quiet with the baby (not much verbal interaction) but we chalked that up to nerves or first day. The next time (4/26), my husband requested that she spend some time reading to her. All seemed well. That Friday we sent her a text asking if she could come in on a Friday, no response, so we followed up again Monday, to which she replied she was out of town on an "emergency." Obviously, we wished her well and were very concerned. She did not let us know if she was going to be at work Tuesday but finally responded to a second text on 5/1 that she was still out until the end of the week and would keep us posted. So we had to find a back up plan for Thursday and awaited her to update us as she said she would. She never showed up or contacted us again. A few days later, we saw she was active on this site again. Needless to say, this was incredibly rude and unprofessional. She knew we had our daughter's upcoming baptism that week, we had out of town guests and desperately needed help (which is why we hired a nanny when we did in the first place). We were left wondering if everything was ok, what happened, etc. and why she ghosted on us after just two days of work (which she was paid for). If she was unhappy for any reason (maybe she didn't like the baby, or the work environment, or the commute, etc.) she could have simply told us, no problem. Even a courtesy text saying "Sorry, I won't be back" would have sufficed. Instead, she created a huge amount of stress for us, wondering whether or not she would show up on her scheduled day, not responding, etc. The entire episode was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
