My name is Kelsey and I am 22 years old. I have been lucky enough to work with children for the last 6 years of my life. I began coaching gymnastics in Littleton, Colorado, where I worked for 2 years before moving to Chicago and continuing with that work. The sport gave me experience working with children as young as 8 months and as old as 15 years. Coaching taught me the importance of patience, positive reinforcement, as well as setting reasonable expectations. This profession also gave me experience working with as many as 12 children at one time and creating a safe and structured environment. While coaching at Elite Sports Complex, I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to lead summer camp there as well. Instructing summer camp, gave me experience in creating and implementing curriculum on a variety of topics that would appeal to a wide Read more range of ages. In addition to coaching, while attending college, I was a nanny for a wonderful 3-year-old girl. On occasion, I would watch her for 12 hours a day. Naturally, my duties covered waking and readying her for the day, planning activities- fun and educational- meal preparation, and bedtime routine. During this time, I also spent time volunteering in classrooms and English as a Second Language (ESL) facilities. Currently, I have earned a degree in sociology and work as a mental health technician for Lake County. There, I have been given the opportunity to work with individuals with mental illness.
