I first started out babysitting my niece when I was 14 years old and volunteering at a childcare center after school and during the summer. The day I turned 16, I was given a substitute position at the childcare center I volunteered at. After two years, during which I worked with infants to school aged and occasionally cooked, I was promoted to Lead Teacher in the school aged class. I did babysitting on weekends and snow days during this time as well. While I worked there, I took many childcare classes and became CPR and First Aid certified, however, I need to get recertified. I had that position for a year and then resigned so that I could concentrate on college. After a few years of college and doing some exploring of my options, I moved to Leavenworth Kansas to be a live-in-nanny for a military family. The father was Read more stationed in Iraq and the mother was, understandably, overwhelmed with juggling her job and parenting alone while he was gone. I was with them for a little over 2 1/2 years, until the father returned home. After that, I managed a few different petshops belonging to one man and then took a job at a new one opening up. I found though, that I find the most fulfillment in childcare and had left to Perdue my true "callingl. I did mostly small babysitting jobs and housekeeping jobs to help supplement my income. I took a long break from working outside the home when I found that I was to welcome a new little bundle of joy of my own. I have been a homemaker since, aside from some babysitting for friends and a housekeeping job that was only a few hours a week. Now, however, I would like to become a nanny again. Being a Nanny has been the most fulfilling for me and I believe it is my calling. However, I would like to find a family who would welcome my son, who is nearly 3, as well. It just feels wrong to care for other people's children and send my own son elsewhere for care. Besides, I love spending every day with him. He had accompanied me on all of the babysitting jobs that I've had since he was born and it always worked out great on all sides. All of the children got socialization with other kids and enjoyed themselves. Having him there never took away from my care of the other children.
