I am a retired early childhood teacher from K-State Center for Child Development, and am having withdrawal pangs missing interacting with children. I have had the pleasure of working with children newborns through high school, including twins; but my passion is infants and toddlers. I currently have a United Methodist Safe Gatherings certificate that includes state and federal background checks. I frequently add to my professional development by updating early childhood classes and taking workshops/training related to child development. Vitalizing positive reinforcement, I have supervised and encouraged activities where children play, create, and explore indoors and outdoors. I have an avid zest for games outdoors and board games indoors, love reading to children, join them in floor time and their self-initiated play, but I put a high emphasis on fostering children's own imagination. Besides the paid experiences listed in my resume, I have a wealth of volunteer experiences. To mention Read more a few: I coached my son's soccer winning team, and helped with cub scouts. I was a Head-Start Volunteer; and I volunteered at Boys and Girls Club. I was a volunteer Sunday School instructor where I planned, prepared lessons, and taught 16 kindergarten children at St. Luke's Church. (I am proud to add I was on the feasibility committee for St Luke's Preschool.) I am a grandmother to six grandchildren, a godmother to two, and a grand aunt to five grandnephews, one grandniece, and another on the way...all who are very important in my life. Children keep me young and are the spice of life.
