I started caregiving when I was 10 years old for my grandma. My father moved her with us when’ her kidneys failed. He had to work so it was up to me to take care of her. I cared for her for 6 years. She sadly passed away a week after I turned 16. Right after that, my father started dating and he loved his girlfriend and her son in and I took care of him when they were at work, I’d get him off of the bus and feed him and help him do homework and take care of him on weekends when our parents went on dates. For the past 2 summers I’ve been caring for my church members children. She worked 3 jobs, was pregnant and her husband was in prison and she needed help. At first it was just a 1 and 2 year old by Read more the end of the summer she had an infant and it was crazy. So my great aunt started helping me and when I left for college my great aunt kept them. And when I came back from school this summer my great aunt told me that our church member had another one on the way. But this past summer me and my grandma have been watching her 3 kids and my cousins child as well. But I love it. I’ve always had a heart for taking care of people. It hurts me whenever I see someone struggling. Most humans feel as though that you should let people struggle because it makes them stronger, but I firmly believe that God put me on this earth to help people and try to make their lives a little easier.
