I started babysitting around 13 years of age, ironically enough for my own sitter's children from when I was a child. That sitter taught me the use of going down to the child's level in order to form an effective and compassionate bond. Since then I have sat for infants and many toddlers. In middle school I received CPR training. Since coming to Tulane from Chicago my experience with children has increased with my employment as a student tutor at Lusher Charter School. In each of the children I care for I seek to build more of a friendship than an authority with them to create a cooperative relation between us.
