I am a 25-year-old recently married graduate student living in Allston. During the 2015-2016 school year, I nannied for a wonderful family in Brookline with two daughters, now aged 8 and 12. My responsibilities included driving them to extracurricular activities, grocery shopping, cooking healthy meals, helping with homework, overseeing playdates, and facilitating fun activities that spurred creativity and holistic health. (I will happily provide contact info for reference purposes!) I also spent several months as a mother's helper for another amazing Brookline family and folded laundry, did some light housecleaning, helped with meal prep, and occasionally watched the newborn daughter and toddler son while their mom was out. For the first two years of undergrad, I worked toward a degree in Elementary Education, though I ultimately received my degrees in History and Political Science, also receiving a minor in Educational Studies from the University of Florida. As part of my Read more course of study, I interned for a semester in an elementary school classroom, providing one-on-one science and math tutoring for students in grades 3 though 5. In 2013, the summer after I graduated with my undergraduate degrees, I became a nanny for a family I had previously done babysitting for when the mother took a job to help support her extended family. The children were 7 (boy) and 11 (girl). I provided educational activities, transported them, cooked one meal per day, helped them with their summer reading list, played outside, did minimal household cleaning, and cared for the family's two dogs. I nannied for them for 3 months before taking a full-time job at a political consulting firm, where I worked until getting married in December 2014. That same summer, I ran a 12-week children's program at a local church for children in grades 2 through 5. I have also worked with numerous summer VBS programs and nearly a dozen speech and debate camps for children in elementary school through high school. I also taught piano lessons for 7 years, including to multiple children on the autism spectrum. In 2012, I helped run 3 children's camps in Romania. And in 2014, I taught a weekly middle school class at my church. Currently, my husband and I are both pursuing graduate degrees in Cambridge, myself at Harvard Extension School and him at MIT. We will be in the area for three more years, and I would love to spend at least some of that time as a part of your family!
