Hello! My name is Sarah Jo and I've been working with children of various ages for 10 + years in a variety of environments. I have been a babysitter, camp counselor, vocal coach for children's community theater, transporter, and lifeguard experiencing working with children ages 8 months and up. Currently I hold positions as a lab manager for a developmental neuropsychology lab at UMass and an education director at a local UCC church. My lab job is ending at the end of the summer and I'm looking for a nannying job to supplement my very flexible position at the church. My love of working with children stems from my early life experiences as a big sister and older cousin. My family used to call me the "little mother" as I was always eager to comfort, or play, or even change the diapers of my younger relatives. Through my experiences I've Read more learned a lot about listening to each individual child to try and fully understand their needs. I think the best piece of positive feedback I've ever received was from a camp director of mine who commented that I "have a special way of connecting to kids on their level." Working and caring for children is both an extremely challenging and rewarding experience. I'm challenged to re-open my mind and allow myself to rediscover wonders through the eyes of the kids in my care. And I'm thankful for that perspective. Because I've been asked in the past, I'm sharing a bit about my educational background: I graduated from UMass in 2014 with a BS in Psychology on the Neuroscience track and minors in Biochemistry and Education. I'm hoping to pursue a graduate degree in educational psychology in the future. Please let me know if you have any questions. I'd be happy to answer anything about my past experience.
