First and foremost, I love kids!  As a mother myself, your child's safety would be my first priority, followed by whatever you'd want the focus to be -- free play, crafts or other creative activities, reading, skill-building, etc.  I'd also be happy to prepare snacks and/or meals, help with baths, and getting the kids ready for bed.  I have more than 20 years experience babysitting, having started when I was 12 years old.  (By the time I was 13, I paid for my own trip to Paris with my French club with the money I'd earned, so, as you can tell, I did A LOT of babysitting!)  I've also babysat and cared for children throughout my adult life.  I'm the youngest of 5 children, and I babysat for my older siblings' kids, took care of friends' kids, and also owned/operated my own family day care business for 6 years. I have experiece with Read more all ages, and experience with various special needs too. My (now 20-yr-old) son was diagnosed with autism when he was 2, and I had several children on the autism spectrum in my day care, as well as kids with ADD/ADHD, anxiety disorders, developmental delays, etc.  I also coached Special Olympics for many years, and have had kids (and adults) with various special needs on my team. I am happy to care for children of any age, and have also had experience with multiples (twins).  While doing day care, I was usually caring for 6 children while alone, and 8 or more during the time I had an assistant present, so I don't get overwhelmed easily.  Many people who know me say I have the "patience of a Saint".  While I can't claim that, I do have my fair share of patience, but most of all, I think it's my love for kids that makes the difference.  I love to watch their personalities and confidence develop over time, along with their skills.  (I always find it amazing how quickly they learn to immitate and negotiate!) I'd like to be clear though -- although I certainly do have patience, that doesn't mean the kids would have free reign to do whateever they please.  I believe kids need structure and discipline, backed up by lots of love.  I will respect your children, and would hope that they would respect me in return. I look forward to talking more about your needs, and whether or not I'd be a good fit for your family.
