I am finishing up my freshman year at Wheelock College in Boston, MA. I live in Macungie, PA, but also have a home in Ocean City, NJ. I am working towards a major in Child Life - an advocate and care taker of children in the hospital setting. In addition, I have spent the last several months in Americorps' Jumpstart program as part of my curriculum. This entails reading, observing, teaching to write, and playing with underprivileged pre-school and toddler-aged children in Boston. I also participate in the Big Sister Foundation and am paired with a 7-year old girl named Asly. The summer before my junior year in high school, I volunteered at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. During that time, I worked with children in the waiting room and in the transplant unit of the hospital. I have several years of babysitting experience as well, to include being a Read more sitter for my neighbor's kids - 3 young boys, two with autism. Children's health causes are also very important to me, and I have done years of fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. I've also participated twice in Teen Advocacy Day in Washington DC to make Congress aware of the research and drug discovery efforts aiding kids and young adults with CF. I was previously certified in baby sitting through the Girl Scouts and have been CPR certified (my recertification is underway). Relative to skills for babysitting, I have always been very good with kids of all ages. I love to draw/color, and am an artist in my spare time and I love to read and relax.
