Hi! My name is Jessica Materin and I am 24 years old. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and moved to the United States when I was 11. I am currently getting my masters at the Graduate School of Social Work at Boston College. I began working with children when I was thirteen as a mothers helper. At the same time, I would take care of my younger sister and babysit for neighbors and family friends. When I was fourteen, I worked at a summer camp as a counselor with children between the ages of two and three for two summers. After graduating from high school in Pennsylvania, I moved to Connecticut and majored in Spanish and minored in Psychology at Southern Connecticut State University. Before and after classes, I would work at a day care with children of ages 2 to 5. In my free time I would Read more also babysit for neighbors and family friends. I also nannied for a family full time for two summers. Currently, I am interning at an elementary school as part of my Social Work studies. I spoke with Jessi over the phone, she sounded very sweet and professional. I was really looking forward to having her as our permenent sitter. We had plans for Jessi to arrive at 1pm to start a regular babysitting job. She texted me at 1:25 and said she came to our house and no one answered the door. We were waiting for her in the living room, which is right next to the door and you can see out the front windows to the front porch. From the living room, we have full visibility of visitors at our door. I tried to call her after she texted me to see what was going on. She would answer and say "hello", then hang up. She texted me back and said she couldn't hear me. Ugh. Needless to say we won't be recommending her.
