I recently graduated from Northeastern University with my MS in Speech Pathology and am currently working as a Speech Therapist in the school system. I'm looking for a little bit of extra work to supplement my income mostly in the summer months. I've worked for a family with 3 children, a set of twin girls and a boy with special needs. I watched them for four years. I started watching them when the girls were ages 7 and the boy was age 9. This position was for after school, date-nights, and couples' weekends. I also babysat when they had sleep overs so I am comfortable with more than 3 children. I've worked with a family that had two children, a boy and girl, ages 4 and 6. This position was for date nights or busy afternoons. I've babysat with a family who had a 3 year old boy and newborn Read more girl. I looked after the children for date nights and occasionally picked the 3 year old up from pre-school. As an SLP I've worked with children who have multiple complex medical needs and specifically focused on communication and developmental learning. With all families I babysat for I was in charge of at least one meal (lunch or dinner), playing games, and homework. I also make a point to clean once the children have gone to bed or at the end of activities. Depending on the age of the child, activities will vary, from outside playing to arts and crafts to games to reading books (especially before bed). Activities are based on the child's individual interests. I try to make the families I work with feel like I am part of the family, which allows both parents and children to feel comfortable around me and with me in charge when parents are out. I want your children to be happy and safe, which I can provide. I enjoy getting to know the kids and really picking activities based on what they enjoy and are interested in (from backyard sports to playing dress up). I also try to do educational activities with the kids because even at the young age, learning is so crucial to child development. I'm always happy to have a phone interview or meet for an interview in person. I feel comfortable around pets (I own a dog) and can also take care of your pet. I'm excited to get to know the families I work for and hopefully I can provide the services you need. I can provide a written resume with messages from references upon request. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.
