Childcare is the most challenging and most fulfilling work I can imagine. As a high school senior, I worked as an after-school and summer teacher for St. Bernadette School in Northborough where I supervised children ages 3-14 with indoor and outdoor play, homework help, on- and off-campus field trips, crafts, organized games and of course, mediated disputes. I had to leave my position in 2009 when I enrolled in Emerson College. During my undergraduate career, I landed an internship at 826 Boston in Roxbury, a writing and tutoring center for underserved youth where I learned both the non-profit office side as well as strengthened my skills in peer editing and guiding creative expression. In 2011, I graduated with a B.A. in Writing, Literature and Publishing, a minor in sociology, and a curiosity about Southern California. After a year in Los Angeles, I found my way to a lovely family with Read more three boys, ages 2-12, while I continued to seek out a job that would lead me to a career in creative writing and entertainment. After only 6 months with the boys, I realized my calling was to be a ally for children and families in need of alternative or supplemental support. I am now pursuing a Masters of Education degree in School Counseling at UMass Boston and working with 6th-12th graders on Tuesdays (8am-3pm) at Tech Boston Academy in Dorchester. It is truly exciting to take the next step forward in my studies and to be working with more families! I am comfortable with children of all ages, varied abilities and even those pesky allergies. As for me, I am a huge puzzle fanatic, enjoy most genres of music, read (a lot!), and take on my fair share of crafts. I enjoy cooking and baking and never take for granted eating a good meal with the people you care about. If you have any further questions for me, please do not hesitate to ask! I am an open book :)
