I have two younger siblings, so most of my babysitting experience comes from watching over them. I have plenty of non-sitting experience with kids--I volunteered at a farm camp with kindergarteners, an outdoor school with fourth graders, and I currently volunteer three times a week at an after school program. At farm camp I learned how to tactfully use intermittent reinforcement with people who never cease to think chasing sheep around is funny. At the outdoor school I watched over a cabin of six girls who ocellated continually between overwhelming homesickness and giddiness about being in a new place; by the end of the week I became an expert at helping them float toward the middle. I now spend four hours each Monday, Tuesday, and Friday drawing with 7 year olds, helping 8 year olds with addition, and dancing with 9 year olds.
