Bonjour! Je m’appelle Kaara. J’habitait dans la France pour un été et je parle le français un peu. (I also sing in French)! I am a health conscious person and actually am severely lactose intolerant and slightly gluten intolerant so I know what it’s like to live with an allergy and adjust my diet accordingly. I am the oldest of three children and I have two younger brothers. I have basically been their caretaker through my parents divorce. I learned very quickly to be active and adaptive and even learned a thing or too about playing football. All of my work experience has involved children by choice. I have been an elementary music teacher, music director for youth musicals, private voice lesson teacher, and assistant fitness instructor at a children's gym. As a elementary school music teacher, I saw 720 students a week and usually 22-28 students at a time. Read more I worked with them one-on-one in class, in small groups, and as a whole class. I've managed and engaged them in performances in addition to my regular school duties. I specifically chose to apply only to elementary positions when I began teaching because I am passionate about early childhood and primary school aged children in their cognitive and social development through music. I believe in encouraging creativity and movement, and allowing children to create in safe, supportive environments. I have experience with more one-on-one supervision as an assistant fitness instructor at MyGym where I I taught the children how to execute exercises using proper physical, hand-eye coordination, and social experiences, in order to create an equitable environment that fostered social and physical well-being. I have experience working with children with special learning needs in the context of an integrated classroom as well as one-on-one at Berkshire Hills Music Academy which is a post-secondary school specifically for special learning needs’ students. I understand a lot of the terminology, differences in types of learning needs, as well as a variety of teaching techniques to facilitate learning in a safe environment.
