Even more important than my substantial credentials is my belief that every child needs, and deserves, unconditional love, and that it is the quality of this love which will determine character. The right nurturing and stimulation will become the foundation for his or her greatest success. I have been a caregiver all my life. My love for children led me to be a nanny throughout college years at Sarah Lawrence, The University of Michigan, and finally at Stanford University. I have raised 4 children in addition to two of my own, one of whom is at Wellesley and the other a child with special needs who has become an honor roll high school student, black belt in karate, and karate instructor. For the past 25 years while I taught preschool and raised children, I have used my expertise in early childhood development and as a lactation consultant to do my Read more own primary research. I became a lecturer at national conferences on pregnancy, infant nutrition, parenting, and discipline, and have worked at MIT giving talks to graduate students in these areas as well as on changes that occur within a marriage after a baby arrives. I currently educate adults and other educators on the use of biological intervention in the treatment of autism spectrum disorders. I have a Masters degree in Education with secondary work in the field of Special Ed. and Positive Psychology. I was a part time professional for many years while devoting most of my time to my family. Now that my children are older, I seek an environment in which I can continue to care for children who need me, while supporting families with my own strengths and background. I am bilingual in Italian, a certified Italian teacher, a published poet, Pushcart prize nominee, translator, and interpreter. In my spare time and when working with children, I enjoy arts and crafts, and cooking. Perhaps most importantly to you, I am certified in infant and child CPR, which I have had to administer twice (successfully) in 17 years. I am an incredibly blessed individual with great optimism, strong faith, good health, and am active in my community.
