Experienced and compassionate health and education professional with a combined 15 years of experience working with children and young adults in a variety of settings. I attended a vocational high school, gaining experience first-hand in child development and early childhood education. I tutored, mentored, and babysat children from 2 months to 13 years in age while completing my college degree. Prior to my current job, I worked in a residential treatment program for at-risk youth ages 13-18 years old. I am a certified medical assistant with a bachelor's degree in health ultimately looking for a career in social work. Presently, I work in a middle school through AmeriCorps VISTA, redesigning systems (recess, behavioral interventions, etc.) to better support the social and emotional needs of students. I love finding innovative ways to make structure fun while still meeting requirements of all parties involved. I am CPR/first aid certified and have training in safe food handling, behavioral management, and defensive driving. My number one priority is safety, but I ensure this with good communication strategies. I am willing to do some light cooking and clean-up, and prefer to work with families to find a flat rate for my time with their children that is comfortable for everyone -- especially if you have multiple children or want a hand with laundry.
