Diane’s Bio

I am a highly experienced, compassionate, attentive, and professional infant and childcare provider. I have about 16 years of experience in professional child care, including over seven years as full-time nanny. As an older cousin in a large close-knit family, I have been taking care of children of all ages since I was a child myself.

I aim to make each day enjoyable for children. I do not believe in simply supervising. I play, help with homework, think of new and exciting things to do; new and exciting things to learn. I nanny because I love to. I love children. I love working with families.

In the past several years, I have been working quite a bit with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. I have extensive experience with twins, including nannying infant twins in their first year (three sets of twins, actually and the first are now 11 years old). My other experience with children includes teaching theater to students aged six through 12 (in a summer camp setting) and teaching cooking/nutritional classes for children aged 4-10 (with Whole Foods Market.) I have also helped to arrange and supervise artistic/musical events with children, and enjoyed attending community family events and participating in any way that I can.

I currently work with Aspen Babysitting Company, so I am getting very used to babysitting for children on vacation. It is fun to meet new families and help make their stay relaxing and enjoyable. Aspen Babysitting Company has been happy to provide reference for my private child-care service.

My experience with clients with special needs includes: caring for a child with autism; caring for an infant with moderate brain damage; and working with hypoglycemia, moderate delays in motor skills, post-traumatic stress, grief, ADHD, chronic acid-reflux, and chronic ear infections. I have worked with physical therapists and occupational therapists to assist parents in ensuring that daily exercises were done, and that new behavioral ideas were tried and, if need be, adjusted with specialist and parents.

This kind of work is very much being part of a team, all of whom are supporting each other in assisting the infant or child's happiness and growth. Overall, my outlook on nannying and babysitting is that childcare is family care. Supporting children is supporting their parents, and supporting parents is supporting their children. I aim to listen, communicate, learn and grow with every family I will be working for.
